Interns in Senator Angela Alsobrooks office can enjoy unique educational and professional development opportunities. Primary duties may include:
Washington DC: Processing mail and calls from constituents, attending hearings and briefings, researching legislation and policy initiatives, composing press releases, and drafting memos for staff and the Senator. Interns are required to work a minimum of 20–24 hours a week, and intern schedules will generally range from 22–26 hours a week.
State office: Answering phone calls, supporting constituent casework, and attending community events, meetings, and briefings with staff, and drafting memos for staff and the Senator. Interns are required to work a minimum of 20–24 hours a week, and intern schedules will generally range from 22–26 hours a week.
Serving as an intern in Senator Alsobrooks office helps candidates better understand the workings of Capitol Hill and the importance of constituent services in the state.

Internships
To apply for a summer internship, you must be a rising college sophomore or older and available to work for the duration of one of the two scheduled summer sessions. Interns are required to work a minimum of 20–24 hours a week, and intern schedules will generally range from 22–26 hours a week.
There are 2 summer sessions:
Session 1: May 19 – June 27
Session 2: July 7 – August 15
To be considered, please submit the application, three signed letters of recommendation, a transcript from your previous semester, and a one page writing sample describing the reason for wanting an internship with Senator Alsobrooks. Please send the completed application packet to Internships@alsobrooks.senate.gov no later than April 7, 2025 indicating which session you would prefer.
There is a great demand for internships on Capitol Hill so the process is very competitive. Our internship program seeks Marylanders from diverse backgrounds who represent the totality of the state and who may not have had previous opportunities to obtain Congressional internship experience.
