WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) released the following statement following news that the Trump administration announced that 10,000 employees of the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department would be fired. Combined with other cuts, HHS will have lost 20,000 total jobs:
“Dangerous and deadly. These mass layoffs at Health and Human Services will cost human lives. I warned America that confirming RFK Jr. would be a mistake. His blatant distrust of science and disregard for research and advancement makes him completely unqualified.
“This move must be immediately reversed for the health and safety of the American people. I will do all I can to fight this.”
